Frequently Asked Questions

What is Pupillary Distance (PD)?
Pupillary Distance (PD) is the distance in millimeters between the centers of your pupils. It is essential for accurately positioning lenses in your glasses so that you look through the optical center of the lens.
How do I measure PD online with this app?
You have two options:
  • Auto Mode: Use your webcam. The app detects your pupils and nose bridge automatically, and you either calibrate using a reference card or use the card-less iris diameter mode.
  • Manual Mode: Upload a photo or capture a snapshot, then manually mark your pupils, nose bridge, and calibration details.
What objects can I use as a reference?
For Card Mode, you can use standard objects with known sizes:
  • Credit/Debit Card (Standard 85.60mm width)
  • Dollar Bill (156.00mm width)
  • 6-inch Ruler (150.00mm width)
  • A4 Paper (210.00mm width)
How does Card-less Mode work?
Card-less Mode uses the average human iris width (anatomically standardized to 11.7mm in adults) as a scaling reference. The app automatically places circles around your eyes. You can then adjust the circle boundaries to match your colored irises perfectly to establish the scale, eliminating the need for a physical card.
What are Monocular and Binocular PD?
  • Binocular PD: The total distance from the center of one pupil to the other. Most standard glasses orders use this.
  • Monocular PD (Dual PD): The distance from the center of the nose bridge to each individual pupil (e.g., 32.5mm Left / 31.0mm Right). This is highly recommended for progressive lenses or strong prescriptions. Our tool calculates and provides both.
